One day when I was out in the surf, I looked towards the beach huts and saw a surfer walking down the overgrown path, using the old, disused public steps to reach the beach.

We often use this old path ourselves, and many locals call it 'the secret path,' which we love. It makes it feel more like an adventure!

My aim with this painting was to recreate that moment as I felt it perfectly captured the essence of a local surfer, venturing out to ride the waves in their own backyard.
