Tucked away on a back street in Saltburn, The Back Alex has been around since 1866. Family-run and full of character, it offers a warm welcome, a solid selection of drinks, and a proper good atmosphere.

My aim with this painting was to capture that familiar morning-after feeling—a surfer heading to the sea to clear his head at sunrise, while seagulls scavenge for their morning treats.
