Although jumping off the pier is strictly prohibited, you'll occasionally spot surfers defying this rule on big surf days, particularly during high tide.
Simon Palmer discusses this risk-taking in his book Don’t Jump off the Pier, the story of Surfing at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, a book I first read back in 2009 and highly recommend!
My intention was to capture this adventurous spirit in a playful way, set against one of Saltburn’s beautiful sunsets.
